Authorities say 20-year-old Lavonta Moore was arrested after an investigation linked him to a shooting incident that took place near Rowan Boulevard as police were clearing a large crowd from the area.

A single gunshot was fired during a reported altercation, striking a victim in the pelvis. The victim was transported to Cooper Hospital and remains in stable condition.

Responding officers located a 9mm handgun without a serial number near an open vehicle door on Rowan Boulevard, along with a discharged shell casing.

A wallet containing Moore’s identification was also recovered from the vehicle.

Surveillance footage and police body-worn cameras captured a confrontation between two groups, including the victim and Moore. During the incident, Moore was seen retrieving an item from the vehicle, pointing a handgun, and firing a shot before fleeing the scene.

Moore was apprehended and remains held at the Salem County Jail pending a detention hearing. He is scheduled to appear in Superior Court on July 12.

The investigation is ongoing.
