ShotSpotter Device Leads Newark Police to North Ward Shooting Scene

Newark Police are acknowledging the crucial role of a ShotSpotter device in directing them to a shooting incident in the city's North Ward on Thursday night.AdReports of gunfire were detected in the vicinity of 51 Chester Avenue at approximately 9:30 p.m., thanks to the technology's alert.

Responding officers arrived promptly at the scene, where they discovered several shell casings.

The discovery prompted an immediate call to their Shooting Response Team to join the investigation.

Fortunately, despite a thorough sweep of the area, no victims were found.AdThe incident is now under an active investigation, with authorities seeking to uncover the motive behind the shooting. As of now, no arrests have been made.

The use of the ShotSpotter device has proven instrumental in enabling a quick response, highlighting the importance of technology in modern law enforcement efforts.
