ShotSpotter Device Detects Gunfire on Clinton Avenue in Newark's South Ward

Police in Newark recovered multiple shell casings at the scene of a shooting in the city's South Ward Sunday night. 

It happened near the intersection of Badger and Clinton avenues at approximately 8 p.m. 

Police were alerted of gunfire after a ShotSpotter device was activated near 398 Clinton Avenue.

Upon arrival, police searched for potential victims and evidence of a shooting. 

Multiple shell casings were reported, but no victims were found at the scene. 

The suspect fled the scene and remained at large.
