ShotSpotter Activation Prompts Police Response Near Society Hill, Newark

Police and detectives responded to a reported shots fired incident Tuesday evening in Newark’s Central Ward.

 

According to authorities, a ShotSpotter device was activated in the 70s block of South Orange Avenue, just outside the Society Hill area. 

Officers arrived on scene and located evidence indicating that a shooting had occurred.

 

The area was taped off as police searched for potential victims. No injuries were immediately confirmed.
 

The suspect fled the scene and remains at large. The investigation is ongoing, and no further information has been released at this time.
