Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect who fired shots on a street in the city Thursday morning.
According to police, it happened at approximately 12:30 a.m. in the vicinity of 537 Central Avenue.
Police say a ShotSpotter activation went off in the area which had officers on the scene investigating.
When units arrived, they alerted hospitals in the region to be on the lookout for possible walk-in victims suffering bullet wounds after they found multiple shell casings.
After a thorough search of the area, there were no injured victims.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined.
