Police in Paterson are investigating a shooting that occurred on in the city during the overnight hours.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of shots fired that erupted in the vicinity of Ellison and East 18th Street at around midnight.
Officers arrived at the scene and began to search the area for victims, but after canvassing the vicinity, units did not find any patients.
Police officers collected multiple shell casings during their search of the area.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
