There are no injuries reported in a shots-fired incident that occurred in Newark's Central Ward this evening.
According to police residents on Westbrook Avenue near Branch Lane contacted police after they heard gunfire in the area just before 9 p.m.
Police arrived and found several shell casings but a search of the neighborhood indicated no victims police said.
Police are checking hospitals in the region for possible walk-in gunshot patients.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined at this time.
