Police in Newark are searching for the motive for a shots fired incident that had bullets connect on one person near a gas station in Newark's North Ward on Saturday evening.
Official details regarding the incident are continuing developing but according to preliminary reports, police taped off the vicinity of McCarter Highway at 3rd Avenue to investigate a shooting that occurred in the vicinity of that location.
Police officers arrived at the scene and found a male victim suffering a non-fatal gunshot wound to the buttocks shortly before 7:45 p.m. according to reports.
EMS transported the victim to the hospital for treatment while police searched the area and found a crime scene near Passaic and 3rd Avenue according to reports.
Police are also attempting to determine if a car crash that occurred around the time of the shooting is related to the incident.
There were no other injuries reported.
