Shoprite, a popular food chain in N.J., is among several stores in the nation to pull an ice pop product from its freezers that the maker recalled this week.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Dreyers Grand Ice Cream, Inc, the manufacturer of Outshine No Sugar Added Strawberry Fruit Bars, has voluntarily recalled a limited number of its product due to a potential undeclared milk allergen.

The FDA said the company is taking this precautionary measure to ensure the safety of consumers with milk allergies or severe sensitivities, as consumption of the affected product could pose a risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions.

The recall specifically applies to the 6 Count packages of Outshine No Sugar Added Strawberry Fruit Bars with batch numbers LLA317822 and LLA317922, bearing a Best By date of September 30, 2024.

Customers who have purchased these specific packages are urged to check the batch codes under "Best By 30 SEP 2024" on the product packaging.

FDA officials said the affected product was distributed to three retail customers in various states, including Kroger in V.A., WV, OH, and K.Y., Shoprite in M.D., PA, VA, DE, and N.J., and Wal-Mart in A.R., MO, TN, MS, KY, AL, and L.A.

Dreyers Grand Ice Cream, Inc is conducting an ongoing investigation to pinpoint the cause of the milk allergen presence.

They believe the issue may have been caused by a faulty valve, resulting in trace amounts of milk being introduced into the product.

It is important to note that no other Outshine products or batches are affected by this recall, providing some reassurance to consumers who have purchased other items from the brand.

Thankfully, no reports of illnesses or injuries related to the consumption of the affected product have been received at this time.

However, the company is taking proactive measures to prevent potential health risks and urging consumers with milk allergies or sensitivities not to consume the recalled product. Instead, they should dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase to receive a full refund.

To ensure the public's safety, Dreyers Grand Ice Cream, Inc advises consumers to stay informed about product recalls and follow the guidelines issued by the company to prevent any adverse health reactions.

If you or anyone you know has purchased the recalled Outshine No Sugar Added Strawberry Fruit Bars, please take the necessary precautions and prioritize your health and well-being.
