Essex County authorities are investigating a shooting that had a male victim self-transported to a Livingston hospital overnight.
Hospital officials at the St. Barnabas Medical Center contacted police when the victim entered the hospital's emergency department located on the 90's block of Old Short Hills Road before 12:30 a.m.
According to a preliminary investigation, the victim reported to police that he suffered his injury in the Newark West Ward community of Smith Street shortly before he arrived at the hospital.
Authorities have not confirmed the location of the shooting but have launched an investigation.
The victim's injuries were not immediately reported as life-threatening according to reports.
