In a recent violent incident in Trenton, a man lost his life to gunfire this past weekend. Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri revealed that both the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are actively investigating the fatal shooting.

On the night of Saturday, September 16, just moments before midnight, Trenton police were alerted by multiple ShotSpotter activations in the vicinity of Brunswick Avenue and Middle Rose Street.

Prosecutor Onofri said responding officers discovered Balil Lewis, a 37-year-old Trenton resident, on a sidewalk located at the heart of Middle Rose Street. Lewis, who was riddled with several gunshot wounds, was immediately rushed to Capital Health Regional Medical Center. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.

As of now, authorities have made no arrests related to the incident, and the investigation continues.

Officials urge anyone with potentially valuable information to reach out to MCHTF Detective Jacob Schor at (609) 414-1179.
