Police in Newark are investigating a shot-fired incident in the city's South Ward on Friday morning.
The early morning shooting happened around 3:47 p.m. near the intersection of Meeker Avenue and Empire Street.
A ShotSpotter device activated and alerted police of gunfire near 109 Meeker.
When police arrived, officers taped off the area after locating shell casings, but no victims were found after cops searched the neighborhood.
The suspect fled the scene and has not been apprehended at this time.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting.
