Police in Newark recovered a shell casing at the scene of a shots-fired incident in the South Ward.
According to authorities, gunfire erupted inside a building in the 900 block of Bergen Street, prompting a police investigation around 8:58 p.m.
When cops arrived, they found a single shell casing ten alerted hospitals in the region to be on the lookout for a potential gunshot victim.
Police canvassed the location for victims, but no injuries were immediately reported.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
