Severe Injuries Reported in Newark South Ward Crash

One out of three victims suffered life-threatening injuries in a violent crash in Newark's South Ward on Monday.

In a preliminary investigation, the early morning collision happened around 2:27 a.m. near the intersection of Poinier and Frelinghuysen Avenue. 

When emergency responders arrived, they found the crash scene with one individual unconscious and unresponsive at that location.

Officials say emergency responders provided lifesaving CPR on the severely injured victim before transporting them to the hospital for additional assistance.

Newark Police have not released the cause of the crash at this time.
