Several Arrested in Walmart Theft Incident in Kearny

There is an active investigation underway into an incident that had police at the Walmart Store in Kearny early this morning.

According to preliminary reports, swift police response to the store, that's located on Harrison Avenue, placed officers on the scene -with mutual assistance from Harrison- after they received reports of suspicious activities.

Units arriving at the scene were informed that several individuals were inside allegedly attempting to steal paintball guns at that location.

A perimeter was setup around the building with officers entering the establishment locating about five suspects inside possibly trying to take paintball guns according to reports.

After an investigation, police handcuffed then escorted the men from the store and into police cars. One person reportedly left the scene and remains at-large.

According to Kearny Police, all of the suspects were juveniles and are being charged with shoplifting and did not release additional information.

A thorough search of the store by police did not find any additional suspects or suspicious activity.

There were no injuries reported.

The incident remains under investigation.
