A serious two-vehicle crash on Route 1&9 in Newark left at least one person injured and caused traffic delays late Thursday night.

The crash occurred in the southbound lanes just south of South Street, where Newark firefighters, police and EMS responded to the scene shortly before 11 p.m.
At least one person suffered serious injuries and was transported to University Hospital in Newark for treatment.
The victim’s current condition has not been released.
The collision caused delays along the highway as emergency crews assisted the injured, police conducted their investigation and the damaged vehicles and debris were cleared from the roadway.
The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.
No additional injuries were immediately reported.
