Somerville police are investigating a serious pedestrian crash that left a person critically injured Saturday night.
Officers were dispatched to the area of 85 Gaston Avenue at approximately 8:10 p.m. after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.
When police arrived, they found an unconscious person lying in the roadway suffering from severe injuries.
Emergency medical personnel requested a medical helicopter, but the medevac was unable to respond due to weather conditions.
The victim was instead transported by EMS to a nearby hospital for treatment. As of 4 a.m. Sunday, the extent of the victim’s condition had not been released.
The Somerville Police Department is leading the investigation into the crash.
No additional details have been made available at this time, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under review.
