An early morning crash on the New Jersey Turnpike shut down all southbound inner roadway lanes in Middlesex County on Monday, according to preliminary reports.
State Police said the crash happened just before 4 a.m. near Exit 8A in Monroe.
Troopers responding to multiple 911 calls arrived to find as many as five vehicles involved in the collision.
At least one victim suffered life-threatening injuries and CPR was administered at the scene, authorities said.
The crash is expected to impact the morning commute as investigators continue to work in the area.
Drivers heading southbound on the Turnpike are advised to plan alternate routes.
