Serious Injuries Reported for Motorcyclist Struck by Car in Newark's North Ward

A motorcyclist suffered severe injuries after he was struck by a car on a street in newark;s North Ward Saturday afternoon.

According to police, at approximately 6:22 p.m, emergency responders rushed to the vicinity of Summer Avenue and May Street to investigate reports of a pedestrian struck.

Upon arrival, police and EMS found a motorcyclist suffering a massive leg compound fracture at that location.

The victim was rushed to University Hospital, where he was admitted for surgery immediately.

Police say a preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was on a motorcycle when he was struck by a car near the intersection.

Residents who made constant complaints to police said the warm weather prompts hundreds of dirt bike riders in the area who perform stunts and recklessly operate their bikes up and down Summer Avenue all day.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
