There were critical injuries reported for the victim of a shooting that occurred in Newark's West Ward on Monday morning.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of Smith Street and 18th Avenue just before 1:40 a.m. where they arrived to find a male victim around the age of 17-years-old suffering multiple bullet wounds.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital, where doctors listed the victim in stable condition.
Police believe that the suspects exited a dark-colored vehicle and began to fire at the victim during a robbery attempt.
The investigation into the incident remains active, ongoing and no arrests have been made.
