Two people were rushed to University Hospital in Newark after an early morning stabbing left them injured in Elizabeth.
There were serious injuries reported in the stabbings that occurred in the 400 block of Franklin Street according to initial reports from the scene.
Police responded to reports of an injured person at around 3:35 a.m. where they arrived to find at least one of the victims stabbed to the chest at that location reports said.
The extent of the victim's injuries have not been released as of 5 a.m.
UPDATE 7:52 a.m. Both victims are in critical condition according to authorities.
Police have launched an investigation.
