Police in Elizabeth are investigating a serious early-morning crash that left at least two people injured on Saturday.

Around 3:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a collision near 582 Division Street.
When they arrived, they discovered that a car had rear-ended a tractor-trailer, leaving the vehicle’s occupants trapped inside.
Firefighters and EMS crews were immediately called to the scene.
First responders worked to extricate the victims from the wreckage before transporting them to University Hospital in Newark for treatment.
Their injuries were described as serious.
The cause of the crash remains under an active and ongoing investigation. 
No additional information has been released.
