Motorcyclist Involved in Elizabeth Crash Airlifted to Newark Hospital

A motorcyclist was airlifted to University Hospital in Newark after a crash in Elizabeth this morning.

The crash happened at around 11:45 am, a short distance to the entrance to the Goethals Bridge where emergency responder found the 30-year-old injured man laying on the ground after his motorcycle crashed at that location.

A medivac helicopter was requested and landed at the Drotar Field for the transport to the Newark hospital.

According to preliminary reports, the victim is a member of the Pagans Motorcycle Club and is said to be in critical condition at the hospital.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

**UPDATED 4:25 pm ELIZABETH PD:** According to police at around 11:30 am (across from the recycling center on Atlantic street), a group of motorcyclists were traveling eastbound when one of them left the eastbound lanes and moved into the westbound lane when he apparently struck a curb suffered a serious injury.

The victim was taken by state police helicopter to University Hospital and is currently in critical condition.

The other motorcyclists stayed at the scene and told police that a van possibly made contact with the motorcyclist.

That claim is under investigation.
