New Jersey State Police are on the scene of a serious early morning crash involving a car and a truck that has left at least one with severe injuries and prompted lane closures along a major highway.

Authorities were dispatched around 4:25 a.m. to the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 in the area of Wharton following multiple reports of a crash with injuries.
Preliminary information indicates that a passenger vehicle collided with a truck, leaving the driver of the car with serious injuries.
As of 5 a.m., officials have not released the victim’s condition, but initial reports from the scene suggest the injuries may be life-threatening.
The crash also resulted in a diesel fuel spill, prompting authorities to shut down westbound lanes as crews work to investigate and clean up the scene.
Officials warn that the closure is expected to significantly impact the morning commute through Morris County. Drivers are urged to plan alternate routes and expect delays in the area.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under active investigation.
Authorities say additional information will be released as it becomes available.
