Separate Stabbings on Same Newark Ironbound Street Under Investigation

Police in Newark are looking into two separate stabbings that happened on the same street in the city's Ironbound section on Monday morning. 

In the first incident, police said at approximately 2:17 a.m., they responded to reports of an inured person in the vicinity of 161 Lafayette Street. 

Officers arrived and found a senior man suffering a stab injury at that location. EMS treated the victim while police investigated the motive for the incident. 

In the other incident, police say at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a person stabbed near 362 Lafayette Street.

When officers arrived, they requested EMS in a rush after locating a male victim suffering stab wounds. 

Police say the victim was rushed to University Hospital for treatment and is in stable condition. 

Officials have not confirmed if the two incidents are connected at this time. 

No arrests have been immediately reported.
