Separate Overnight Paterson Shootings Injure Three

Authorities in Paterson are investigating separate shootings that rang out in the city sending three people to the hospital overnight.

First, reports of shots fired sent police to the 30's block of Jefferson Street shortly before 10:15 p.m. where cops located one person suffering a gunshot wound to the hand. The victim told police he was walking when shots rang out, striking him on the hand. The man was transported by EMS to St. Josephs Hospital with a non-life threatening injury. There were no arrests reported.

Shortly before 1 a.m. in the area of Belmont Ave. and North 9th Street, police responded to several calls of shots fired at that location. Units arrived to the scene where witnesses told them that a victim had just left the scene in a private vehicle possibly en route to the hospital.

While authorities setup a crime scene at the shooting scene, hospital officials were notified to be on the look out for the victim's arrival.

According to hospital officials, the 18-year-old male victim arrived to the hospital at around 1 a.m suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the ankle.

Initial investigations revealed, victim was walking when two masked men fired several shots from across the street, striking the victim.

Police recovered as many as 9 shell casings at the scene. There were no arrests reported.

Multiple rounds of gunfire erupted in the single digit block of 8th Ave. sent heavy police presence to the scene at around 12:30 a.m. where a male victim was located struck by gunfire.

The victim was rushed to St. Josephs Hospital in an unknown condition.

Police setup a crime scene in the area where they searched for evidence and possible suspects.

All of the shootings are under investigation by the Paterson Police Department.
