Passaic County authorities said at approximately 8:22 A.M. today, police responded to the area of Hazel Street and Van Orden Place in the City of Clifton upon a report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a motor vehicle.
According to police, an investigation revealed that the pedestrian, Mr. Marinus Lalumia, 81, of Clifton, was crossing Hazel Street near the intersection with Van Orden Place when a 2017 Honda HR-V struck him was being operated by Ibrahim A. Jadallah, 21, of Paterson.
Police said Mr. Lalumia was pronounced deceased on the scene.
No charges have been filed at this time, however, the investigation remains active and ongoing.
