An attack on a security guard inside a CVS store in Newark has police looking for a suspect.
The incident happened shortly before 11 a.m. on Monday at the CVS store located in the 400 block of Bloomfield Avenue where police were called to the scene for a person assaulted.
Police arrived to find a security guard suffering minor injuries after being assaulted by a male suspect who was attempting to shoplift several items from the store according to reports.
When the security officer attempted to intervene, the suspect went on the attack striking the officer several time before fleeing the scene with the items.
EMS treated the victim while detectives processed the scene.
The store temporarily closed until police concluded their investigation.
