Second Time in a Week Man Allegedly Caught Illegally Dumping in Newark

Police in Newark are announcing the second arrest of Mr. Jamal Walton-Muhammad, 43, of Newark, within a week, for a second incident of illegal dumping that occurred on Thursday, June 15.

According to police, at approximately 2 p.m., members of the Illegal Dumping Task Force responded to a report of illegal dumping in the 200-block of Fabyan Place.

Police said two males arrived at the location, exited a white box truck and unloaded construction debris and furniture boxes before re-entering the truck and driving away.

Members of the Illegal Task Force investigated this incident and developed sufficient evidence to identify Mr. Jamal Walton-Muhammad, a truck driver of The Best Deal Discount Furniture, located at 63 Market Street, Newark, as a suspect in this incident.

Police arrested Mr. Walton-Muhammad yesterday (Friday) without incident and charged him with Illegal Dumping and Illegal Transport of Solid Waste.

The Best Deal Discount Furniture’s truck, used to transport the dumped materials, is subject to seizure by forfeiture police said.

Police arrested Mr. Walton-Muhammad on Monday, June 19, 2017 for an incident of illegal dumping at Rose Street and Jelliff Avenue.

These charges are merely accusations lodged against Mr. Muhammad.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The investigation on the Fabyan Place incident is continuing.

The second male suspect is medium complexioned wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, and had long dreads.
