Second Suspect of Fatal Drive-By Shooting in Paterson Pleads Not Guilty

The second man, Hasmeek Coles, 20, charged with shooting that killed a 15-year-old rising basketball star pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder today. 

Coles accused as an accomplice in the fatal shooting, is also facing attempted murder charges and receiving stolen property. 

His bail was set at $2 million cash and may not have any contact with the victims or their families.

On April 18, shots rang out near the corner of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Godwin Avenue around 8:37 p.m.

Upon arrival, police discovered Armoni and three others - one female and two males -  injured by bullets fired from a passing car. 

All the victims were transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.

Armoni was pronounced dead at 11:55 a.m. Sunday, according to authorities.

Authorities investigating the incident believe the shooting was part of a dispute between groups of young men.

The charges are now being referred to a grand jury.
