Seaside Park Man Suffers Head Injury Following Chain-Reaction Crash in Toms River

A 32-year-old from Seaside Park was injured in a three vehicle crash on Route 37 Tuesday morning.

According to authorities, today at approximately 7:10 a.m., police, medical, and fire units responded to a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 37 and Coolidge Avenue.

Preliminary investigation revealed, Kim Douglas, 34 of Toms River, was traveling West on Route 37 in a 2013 Dodge caravan when she drove into the back of a 2015 Toyota Corolla driven by Michael Carlo, 32, of Seaside Park, as he was stopped at a red traffic signal.

The Toyota was then pushed forward into a 2015 Nissan Rouge that was being operated by 32-year-old Edward Brick from Bick Township.

Fire rescue units extricated Carlo from his vehicle and transported him to a local hospital for treatment of head injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
