Search Underway for Missing Newark Teen

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is calling for community assistance in the search for 15-year-old Lazaliya Johnson, a Newark resident who was reported missing on Sunday, January 21. AdKnown to have a history of running away, Lazaliya was last seen in the vicinity of Chadwick Avenue near Avon Avenue.

Police say she is 5'1", weighs approximately 140 pounds, and is recognizable by her distinctive black and pink braids.

At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a black varsity jacket, gray sweatpants, and blue Jordan sneakers.

Lazaliya is known to frequent specific areas in Newark, including the 200 block of West End Avenue, the 100 block of Seymour Avenue, and Smith Street.

Director Fragé is urging anyone with information regarding Lazaliya Johnson's whereabouts to immediately contact the Police Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).

All tips provided to Crime Stoppers remain anonymous and could potentially lead to a reward as the community comes together in the hope of a safe return.
