Search Underway for Driver of Truck that Spilled Cooking Oil On Newark Ironbound Streets

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose requests the public’s help in identifying the below pictured suspect vehicle in connection with the three-mile oil spill that occurred yesterday in the Ironbound Section.

Police say the spill, which occurred at approximately 3:40 p.m., affected Stockton and Delancey streets; Adams and Thomas streets; and Wilson Avenue.

Detectives investigating this incident have determined that the vehicle spilled cooking oil along these roadways.

Members of the Newark Fire Division, with the assistance of Essex County, covered the spill with a large coat of sand to facilitate safe traffic flow.

While police are actively searching for the suspect vehicle, we seek the public’s help in quickly identifying it as part of this investigation.
