SALUTE: Happy Founders Day to Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.!

New Jersey

By: Richard L. Smith

Today, we extend our warmest greetings to Omega Psi Phi Fraternity from all of us here at Metro Media Associates of NJ, the parent company of RLS Media Solutions Broadcasting.

GenceptzNovember 17, 1911, marks a historic day when three Howard University undergraduate students, with the guidance of their faculty adviser, came together to establish the first men's Greek letter fraternity on a Black College campus.

Omega Psi Phi derives its name from the initials of a profound Greek phrase, signifying that "friendship is essential to the soul."

This phrase was not only adopted as a motto but became a guiding principle for the fraternity.

Manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift were also established as cardinal principles, shaping the fraternity's mission.

Since its inception, Omega Psi Phi has tirelessly pursued its purpose – uniting college men who share high ideals of scholarship and manhood while actively engaging in the political life of the community.

The fraternity has remained steadfast in its commitment to uplifting the downtrodden, striving to elevate their economic and intellectual status.

GenceptzWhile there may not currently be an active chapter of Omega Psi Phi on the University of Washington, Seattle campus, the fraternity's legacy of brotherhood, scholarship, and service continues to impact communities across the nation.

On this special Founders Day, we celebrate the enduring spirit and dedication of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

May the fraternity continue to inspire and uplift for many years to come.

Happy Founders Day from all of us here in the RLS Media Information Center.
