In his new role, Kyriacou will lead the hospital’s strategic direction, day-to-day operations, financial performance, and key initiatives supporting the system’s continued growth across Hudson County.

Kyriacou previously served as Chief Operating Officer of The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, a 1,134-bed academic medical center, where he managed a $4 billion operating budget and led a workforce of more than 15,000 employees.

His accomplishments there included overseeing a $750 million capital plan, including development of the Mount Sinai Tisch Cancer Hospital, and executing a five-year strategy to expand clinical services and improve operational performance.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kyriacou directed a rapid expansion of hospital capacity to 1,600 beds and helped establish large-scale testing and vaccination centers.

He also supported the creation of the Institute for Critical Care Medicine across the Mount Sinai Health System.

“Jonathan’s track record in operational excellence, strategic planning, and high-quality patient care aligns perfectly with the mission and goals of RWJBarnabas Health and Jersey City Medical Center,” said Thomas A. Biga, Executive Vice President and President, Northwest Region. “His leadership will be instrumental in expanding services in Hudson County.”
