Rutherford Police Involved in Pursuit That Ended in Newark

Police in Rutherford chased a vehicle occupied by suspects who were wanted for attempting criminal activity in the town during the overnight hours.

According to preliminary reports, police spotted the stolen red Mitsubishi Outlander and attempted to pull the vehicle over, but it sped away and eventually made its way southbound on NJ-21 at approximately 2:40 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle sped down the highway and entered the Newark city limits where police followed the car through several neighborhoods before losing the driver in the area of Badger and Avon avenues according to reports.

Police say the car has a reported NY license plate number "JHJ-5211" that was reportedly stolen in Newark. NJ State Police also assisted in the pursuit according to reports.

There were no injuries reported.
