Rutgers University Stabbing Suspect Under Guard in Hosptial

According to Rutgers Police Chief Kenneth Cop, the alleged stabbing suspect, Joshua S. Thompson, of Mountainside remains hospitalized at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

The 25-year-old man had been placed under 24-hour guard and had been there since Nov. 4 after stabbing a faculty member and Rutgers University student on the New Brunswick campus during midday class hours.

Thompson is suffering from self-inflicted wounds but the extent of the wounds have not been disclosed.

Authorities report that all three were previously listed in critical condition, but one has been released while the others remain in fair condition.

Thompson is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon connected with the crime, attempted murder, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, authorities say.

Once released Thompson will be sentenced, until then mo court appearances have been scheduled at this time, Amd his bail remains at $1 million.
