Route 80 Car Fire Fatally Injures One in Parsippany-Troy Hills

State Police officials are reporting one dead in a car fire that erupted on an interstate in Morris County Monday night. 

Officials say firefighters rushed to Route 80 near mile marker 41.5 in Parsippany after receiving reports of a vehicle fire. 

Upon arrival, emergency responders found a fully involved vehicle with a person trapped inside. 

Firefighters extinguished the blaze in a short amount of time but found the unidentified person suffering severe burns inside. 

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the investigation is active and ongoing into what exactly caused the fire. 

The NJ State Police will handle the investigation.
