Roselle Man Charged in Armed Robbery of Linden Convenience Store

A Roselle resident has been arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at a Linden convenience store last month, authorities said.

According to police, 29-year-old Nigel Cummings faces multiple charges, including first-degree robbery, fourth-degree possession of a weapon, and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

The incident took place around 2:30 p.m. on May 15, 2025, at the New Way Supermarket, located at 816 E. St. George Avenue.

Authorities say Cummings entered the store, walked behind the counter, and—while wielding a knife—allegedly grabbed the store clerk and demanded cash from the register.

The clerk was not injured during the incident.

An investigation conducted by the Linden Police Department Detective Bureau ultimately identified Cummings as the suspect

He was taken into custody on May 30, 2025, in Upper Merion, Pennsylvania.

Cummings is currently being held at the Montgomery County Jail in Pennsylvania as he awaits extradition to New Jersey to face charges.
