Rockaway Resident Indicted on Attempted Kidnapping, Sexual Assault Charges

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Rockaway Township Police Chief Martin McParland, Jr. announce that Kyriakos Serghides, 35, of Rockaway Borough, New Jersey was indicted today on multiple charges related to incidents that are alleged to have occurred in August and September of 2015 in Rockaway Township.

It is alleged that on August 28, 2015 while at the Rockaway Townsquare Mall, Serghides touched the genitals of two separate boys in restrooms within the Mall. It is also alleged that on September 10, 2015, Serghides threatened and then attempted to leave the Target Store in Rockaway Township with an unrelated (5) year old boy. Serghides was arrested on September 11, 2015 on charges related to these three incidents.

Defendant was indicted on two (2) Counts of Second Degree Sexual Assault; three (3) Counts of Third Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; one (1) Count of Second Degree Attempted Kidnapping; one (1) Count of Second Degree Luring; one (1) Count of Second Degree Attempted Sexual Assault; one (1) Count of Third Degree Terroristic Threats; one (1) Count of Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes; and one (1) Count of Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
