Robbinsville Crash Kills Yardville Man

The Robbinsville Township Police Department and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Serious Collision Response Team are investigating a multi-vehicle accident that occurred Monday evening, resulting in one fatality and multiple people injured.

According to The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office, a preliminary investigation indicates that around 6:30 p.m., a white GMC Savana work van traveling south on Route 130 caused a Pontiac Trans Am to cross the median in the area of Woodside Road, where it collided with vehicles traveling in the opposite direction.

Authorities say the white van proceeded to flee the scene and was located this morning in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. The driver of the van has not been located at this time.

According to authorities, the driver of the Trans Am, Mr. Vincent Zitani, 23, of Yardville, NJ, was pronounced dead at the scene while the lone adult occupant of the Hyundai Elantra, remains hospitalized.

Police say the fourth vehicle involved, a Toyota Highlander, was occupied by six individuals - a set of parents, grandparents, a teenage daughter and a family friend. Most of those individuals remain hospitalized.

The teenage girl was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick where she is currently in stable condition according to police.

The accident is being investigated by Robbinsville Detective Sergeant Adrian Markowski and Prosecutor’s Detective Salvatore Vaccaro. Anyone with information pertaining to the investigation is asked to contact Sergeant Markowski at (609) 259-3900 or Detective Vaccaro at (609) 273-7453.
