Robbery Suspect Attacks Dollar General Employees in Newark’s North Ward

Police officials in Newark request the public’s help in identifying a male suspect wanted in connection with a robbery that occurred at Dollar General, 712 Broadway, on Sunday, March 6.

In a statement, police said at approximately 5:30 p.m., the suspect entered the store and began placing merchandise into a red and black duffle bag.

According to police, the suspect assaulted two store employees while attempting to leave the store without paying for the items. He also walked out with a cell phone belonging to one of the employees. 

Police said one of the victims arrived at Clara Maass Medical Center for treatment and was released.

Detectives investigating this incident seek the public’s help in quickly identifying this suspect as part of their investigation.

The suspect is described as a Black male in his 50’s. He is 5’6” tall with a thin build, bald head, wearing blue jeans, a black jacket, and white Air Force One sneakers.
