River Edge Man Charged with Assaulting Juvenile

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Mr. Cory Bensen, of River Edge on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault By Sexual Contact And Endangering The Welfare Of A Child.

Officials say the arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the River Edge Police Department under the direction of Chief Thomas Cariddi.

According to Bergen County authorities, on Friday, February 14, the River Edge Police Department received information that Bensen was sexually abusing a juvenile in River Edge.

The incident remains under investigation.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was contacted and an investigation was initiated by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the River Edge Police Department.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would like to thank the River Edge Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
