Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of Venkata Bondapalli, 45, of Ridgefield Park, on charges of Sexual Assault by Sexual Contact and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
According to authorities, on Wednesday the Ridgefield Park Police Department and Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that Bondapalli inappropriately touched an eleven-year-old victim during the month of June 2017 while in Ridgefield Park.
As a result of the investigation and interviews, Bondapalli was placed under arrest on Thursday and charged with violating one count of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b, Sexual Assault by Sexual Contact, a 2nd degree crime, and one count of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a 3rd degree crime.
He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance at the Bergen County Central Judicial Court on Friday, August 11th at 1:30 p.m.
Bergen County Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
