Rescue Crews Search for Man Believed to have Fallen into Passaic River in Newark

There is a multi-city search for a man who police belive has fallen into the Passaic River at this time.

Emergency responders rushed to the river bank just along the Raymond Boulevard side of the Jackson Street bridge shortly before 5 p.m.

Arriving units were met by several witnesses who told them that a light complexion Hispanic male approximately

5'9" tall and last seen wearing jeans and boots had fallen into the water and the current swept him westbound towards Kearny.

Newark Police contacted Kearny, Harrison and North Arlington Police Departments for assistance.

A search helicopter has arrived on the scene.
