Authorities in Union County said a report of gunfire erupting near a park in Rahway was unfounded Saturday night.
According to a preliminary investigation, a caller notified police after they believed they heard gunfire near the St. Georges Avenue side of Rahway Park just before 8 p.m.
Officers from Union County Police and Rahway Police said they canvassed the area, but no evidence was found during their search.
