Reports of Armed Man Inside Princeton Panera Bread Has Police Investigating

A report of an armed man inside Panera Bread, that's across the street from Princeton University's campus, has police at the scene investigating Tuesday morning.

According to preliminary reports, sometime around 10 a.m. officers responded to the Nassau Street Panera Bread, after a man was reportedly inside the eatery armed with a gun.

A Nixle alert warned area residents that

Nassau Street was shut down between Washington and Witherspoon while police evacuated area businesses.

The incident is currently under investigation.

UPDATED 2:40PM from Princeton Police:

A standoff with an armed man at the Panera Bread in Princeton is continuing at this time. The situation is contained within the store. The immediate area of the store has been evacuated and police continue to negotiate with the armed man.

The immediate area of Nassau Street between Washington and Witherspoon St. is closed to all traffic. There is no threat to public safety at this time. Please Stay away from the area. Until further notice.
