Reported Kidnapping Ends in Fatal Police Involved Shooting in Bergen County


FBI officers fatally shot a suspect who reportedly was involved in a kidnapping in Bergen County. 

According to a preliminary investigation, it happened in Leonia around 5:55 a.m. today.   

Officials would not give much details but did say the kidnapping victim was recovered uninjured.

Officers fatally shot the suspect. The incident was the culmination of an investigation involving the FBI and other agencies.

The NJ Attorney General’s Office has been notified. 


The FBI Newark and Philadelphia Field Offices were involved in a kidnapping investigation in the area of Leonia. 

During the course of the confrontation with subjects, one subject was shot and is deceased.  

The victim was safely recovered.  There are no threats to the community.
