EMS transported an employee of a laundromat located in the teens block of Court Street to University Hospital earlier this evening for a non-life threatening injury after the man was beaten by several armed men who were apparently attempting to rob the establishment.
The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. where employees inside the store said three black males entered the laundromat and begin to pistol whip and strike the employee who was on duty in the head with an object, possibly a bat.
Police were called to the scene a short time later where they found the victim bleeding heavily suffering a head injury.
The suspects reportedly fled in a grey Buick LaCrosse after the assault. A female customer was inside the establishment during the time of the incident but was not reported to be injured.
Newark Police are investigating.
