According to a statement released by police, at noon Montclair Police responded to 425 Bloomfield Avenue on a third-party caller reporting an active shooter inside of a mixed-used building in the middle of the Central Business District.

Police say, as a result, all vehicular and pedestrian traffic was diverted upon arrival of patrol units.

A rapid deployment team of first arriving officers was established and they immediately made entry into the building.

Police say the building was thoroughly searched and at 12:09 p.m.,  the scene was declared “all clear,” and no individuals were taken into custody.

The caller was identified and after an investigation, police said it was determined that the report of an active shooter was unfounded.
